On Saturday 13th December Wyndham Carols by Candlelight 2025 opened its gates at 5pm. Kids enjoyed the pre-show kids activities, families spread out across the great lawn, and the food trucks were in full swing. Unfortunately, halfway through the evening, just before the children’s program was due to begin and the main show to follow, the event had to be abandoned due to safety concerns caused by adverse weather.
In the days since, we have worked tirelessly to explore whether it would be possible to present the remainder of the program as originally intended. However, with an event of this scale — involving hundreds of volunteers, performers, production crew, and key suppliers — we have been unable to align all of the necessary pieces to do so in a satisfactory way.
As you can imagine, everyone involved is pretty devastated, from the countless kids that were going to be performing, many for the first time, to those of us who have been working on this since the start of the year. This was more than just a concert to us. It was our community coming together to give something special back to Wyndham.
We are incredibly grateful for the understanding and grace shown by so many already. If you would like to support the future of Wyndham Carols, there are four meaningful ways you can do so:
As a community-run event, we have already incurred the majority of our expenses. Allowing your ticket purchase to become a form of support would make a significant difference in helping us cover those costs and ensuring we can return in 2026. Many performers, volunteers, and groups were heartbroken not to be able to share what they had prepared. If you know someone who was involved, a message of encouragement would mean more than you might realise.

In addition, a massive acknowledgement as well to Wyndham City Council. This isn’t their first event in recent weeks that’s been adversely affected by weather, and many of their counsellors were right in the thick of it with us through the heavy rain and hail.
