Run by the Wyndham Ministers Network and supported by the Wyndham City Council, the Wyndham Carols by Candlelight aims to bring the whole community together to celebrate the joy of Christmas. An entirely non-profit event, it is the largest Christmas Carols celebration held in Victoria outside Melbourne’s Christmas Eve Concert.

The Wyndham Carols by Candlelight traditionally features songs and carols with a live band, and has often included various performances from community groups and a depiction of the Christmas nativity.
Silvie Paladino, one of Australia’s most versatile and celebrated sopranos, is set to headline the Wyndham Carols by Candlelight 2024. With a career that spans over decades, Silvie has captivated audiences with her remarkable voice and powerful stage presence. From her acclaimed performances as Eponine and Fantine in Les Misérables on both the Australasian stage and London’s West End, to starring roles in productions such as Cats, Miss Saigon, and Mamma Mia!, Silvie’s extensive repertoire has cemented her as a beloved figure in musical theatre.
Beyond the stage, Silvie has enchanted concertgoers around the world, performing with leading orchestras and sharing the stage with renowned artists like Michael Bolton and Patrizio Buanne. A regular feature at Australia’s most prestigious events, including the AFL Grand Final and the Boxing Day Cricket Test, she brings both gravitas and joy to her performances. Silvie’s return to Carols by Candlelight will be a highlight of the 2024 holiday season, delivering timeless Christmas classics and spreading festive cheer.
Since its inception in 1890, the Salvation Army Melbourne Staff Band has been a beacon of musical excellence and spiritual ministry, both in Australia and across the globe. Known for its powerful and uplifting performances, the band has graced iconic venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, and Disneyland’s Main Street. Over the years, the Melbourne Staff Band has brought their message of hope and faith to audiences far and wide, traveling extensively throughout Australia and to countries such as New Zealand, the U.S.A., Canada, and Europe, making them a vital part of the Salvation Army’s global outreach.
Led by Staff Bandmaster Ken Waterworth since 1994, the band has continued to uphold a high standard of both performance and ministry. Ken, an accomplished euphonium soloist, has guided the band through numerous national and international tours, enhancing their reputation for musical and spiritual leadership. This year, as they take the stage at the Wyndham Carols by Candlelight 2024, the Melbourne Staff Band promises to deliver a heartwarming and inspirational performance.
